Lesbians didn’t always get to see themselves on screen but between Stonewall, the feminist movement, and the experimental cinema of the 1970s, a once invisible population became seen and heard, and transformed the social imagination about queerness. Pioneering filmmakers share moving and often hilarious stories from their lives and discuss how they’ve expressed female identity through film.
The screening begins with a special preview about the Legacies of Lesbian Literature Project from Kansas City based filmmaker and OUT HERE NOW alum Lisa Marie Evans. Elizabeth Andersen, the producer and host of the Sandra Moran Radio Book Club will introduce the screening.
