Join your Oasis community for a guided tour of the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art with this week's speaker Dennis Fehr! The event starts at 2pm and we will meet in the main atrium.
About the speaker:
Dennis became fascinated with drawing at a young age; by third grade he was selling his drawings on the playground for a nickel apiece. His father had dreamed of art school, but they were Mechanized Amish and education past age 16 was considered «putting on airs.» Dennis, however, chose to put on airs. He survived the University of Illinois School of Art’s 90 percent rejection rate and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, to which he would add master’s and doctoral degrees. A dream career resulted. Dennis has chaired doctoral dissertation committees, consulted for foreign governments and the U.S. Department of Education, and taught jail inmates how to draw. He has published three books. He has made, taught and lectured about art in 19 countries, and his work is in collections around the world.
