Join Voice For Animals — Kansas City and VegLife — Kansas City for Kansas City's first Veganism 101 curriculum offered through Communiversity.
Sessions will be held at the Atterbury Student Success Center, UMKC campus, room 237, 5000 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO

Class description and curriculum:
The class is designed to give students a basic knowledge of the philosophies behind veganism, the benefits of a plant-based diet, and the environmental impact of animal agriculture. We welcome veg-curious novices interested in plant-based nutrition, animal lovers, omnivores who care about the environment, or long-time vegans who may feel that they have a few gaps in their knowledge—basically anyone!
Session 1: September 14--Frequently asked questions and how to respond when your friends and family ask, «Where do you get your protein and how do you know plants don't have feelings?»
Session 2: September 21--The anatomy of herbivores vs the anatomy of omnivores and carnivores
Session 3: September 28--Vegan Health with guest speaker Candice Billings. About Candice: candicebillings.com/nutrition
Session 4: October 5--Animals and Philosophy: From ancient vegetarians to the modern animal rights movement
Session 5: October 12--The environmental impact of animal agriculture
Session 6: October 19--Vegan living. This class will consist of a panel of vegans discussing their every day experiences. Topics will include student life, vegan parenting, and ways of handling a variety of social and professional situations while maintaining a vegan lifestyle. There may also be a basic cooking demonstration if the facilities are adequate. Panelists include Voice for Animals Board member, Christie Carter, nutritionist Candice Billings, and Macy Marriott.
