Congregation Beth Shalom, Jewish Family Services and Episcopal Community Services are proud to host This Is Hunger, an interactive experience on wheels (literally, it’s a big rig!) brought to us by MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

This national touring exhibit is a local interfaith effort to raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in greater Kansas City, and bring you face to face with hunger in America. It is coming to our community July 9-13, 2017. We are excited to invite you to experience the 45-minute multi-media exhibit and come away inspired to educate and advocate for change!

The faces of hunger in America are both familiar and hidden from view, yet they are all too real and far too many.

Through digital and hands-on activities, This is Hunger takes participants on a compelling journey that draws them into the real-life circumstances of individuals.

This is Hunger is housed in a 53-foot-long double expandable trailer. When parked and open, it provides almost 1,000 square feet of exhibit space to spark awareness and help participants understand the stark reality and complexity of hunger in America. The exhibit is on a 10-month national tour that is stopping in more than 30 cities across the country. We are the only stop in the state of Kansas!

This Is Hunger is free and open to the entire community. The mobile exhibit will be in the parking lot of Congregation Beth Shalom at 14200 Lamar, Overland Park, KS from July 9 through July 13. To see a schedule of tour times and reserve your free tickets, visit and click on Find Tickets, or visit the KC event page at

The exhibit is open to all ages, but we recommend ages 12+ as the real-life nature of material may be difficult for younger audiences. Discussion guides for educators and groups are available to enhance the learning experience by contacting us in advance.

Please contact Farrah Udell at (913) 647-7282 or [email protected] for help with registration, large group reservations or questions about the schedule. We look forward to seeing you in the truck for an illuminating experience!
