The National Endowment for the Arts affirmed the Kansas City area as a hub for fine poets and poetry late last year, awarding $25,000 creative writing fellowships in poetry to UMKC’s Hadara Bar-Nadav and the University of Central Missouri’s Kathryn Nuernberger.

Both associate professors released new, award-winning collections of poems in 2016 (Bar-Nadav’s «Fountain and Furnace,» Nuernberger’s «The End of Pink»). During National Poetry Month, they join Angela Elam of public radio’s New Letters on the Air in a discussion of their work¬and of the importance of NEA and other funding to poets and artists in all genres.

Co-presented by the UMKC English and New Letters magazine. New Letters on the Air
